Y4C is dedicated to obtaining affordable monthly bus passes for all Providence public high school students who live more than one walking mile from their school.
"This is how much I pay just to get to school" "It's either food or a bus pass...which would you pick? If you were in the Providence Place Mall food court on Friday, August 26th you may have walked away with more than a quick meal. That evening patrons were greeted with 6,200 pennies for the taking. Y4C organized a powerful statement about students, transportation and the challenges of going back-to-school.
Y4C youth speak about their presentation to the RIPTA Board of Directors. This was Y4C's first public presentation about its Transportation 4 Education campaign.
Transportation 4 Education is a campaign led by Youth 4 Change to raise awareness about the financial burden that the Provence transportation system outs on the city's students. Next Generation Media and Youth 4 Change have teamed up to promote this campaign. In this video, Providence high school students speak out about how their life has been impacted by the transportation system.
