About Us
The Youth 4 Change Alliance (Y4C) is an alliance between four different youth organizations in Providence—Direct Action for Rights and Equality (DARE), the Providence Youth Student Movement (PrYSM), Young Voices, and Youth In Action (YIA). We work with young people from throughout Providence to build youth power so that youth can be true leaders in our community. We have a vision that:
Together, Youth 4 Change (Y4C) alliance members will launch a youth movement, elevating young people as critical thinkers and decision makers in Providence. The alliance will create new ways for organizations, youth and adults to work together to spearhead coordinated projects and campaigns. In solidarity, we will bring about positive, concrete and sustainable change through direct action, organizing, advocacy, governance and other forms of civic participation. We want to live in a community where young people are acknowledged and elevated as powerful leaders for change. We imagine a critical mass of youth leaders transforming policies and systems that affect them, our collective actions changing a culture of complacency and fear to one of progress, hope, and action.
